Kongu Vellala Gounder Pioneers and Stalwarts

S.G. Sengodayan was the first Non-Brahmin ICS officer. He was a very bright and during his school days he decided to do ICS.His Credentials got him a Scholarship at the Presidency college an stood first in Mathematics and received Stuart and Marsh Prize. He was perhaps the only one to secure this distinction and this helped him to get admitted into the prestigious Cambridge University.He was inspirational to many and his lecture in Presidency college implanted CS.

Sengodayan was the Son-in-law of the famous freedom fighter Mr.V.C. Palanisamy Gounder of Prominent Vellikinar Family. Faded Flower a Biographical Narrative of S.G. Sengodayan was written by En.Perumal.

Vellingiri Gounder (1890-1948) was born as the eldest child of three to Mr.Chinnappa Gounder of Vellaikinar.He owned vast tracks of land in Coimbatore and Thanjavur.Vellingiri Gounder was the Founder of Gnanambikai Mills in the year 1935 with 14,656 Spindles capacity.He is the founder of  "Gnanambigai Mills" the First Gounder's Owned Mill in the year 1936.He was elected to the legislature from coimbatore (1921-26).He as also Old Coimbatore District President and during tenure took up the Coimbatore-Pollachi Rail link.He Widened the Sathyamangalam-Dimbam-Mysore Ghat road and built the protection wall.He was Close the Great Rajagopalachari and he along with P.Subburayan and T.S.Avinashilingam Chettiar built the foundation for congress in the Kongu Region. He died in a Vehicle accident in the year 1948.

P.Nachimuthu Gounder was born to Palani Gounder and Chellammal in the year 1902.He founded  the Anamalai Bus Transport (ABT) in the year 1931 with a Single bus  and by the year 1940 it become one of the largest Transport Company in south india with more than 100 Buses.He started many business like Bus-body Building, Distilled water plant, Petrol Supply etc and ran it successfully.Nachimuthu Gounder was Municipal chairman and his tenure was very Fruitful one.He is father of  N.Mahalingam Illustrious son of the Kongu Region.

R.Krishnaswamy Gounder fought against the land ceiling for farmers. He felt that such a ceiling was absent in other activities.

Dr.N.Mahalingam had immensely contributed for the publications of the three magazines.

சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர் (Swami Chidbhavanandar)

சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர் (11.03.1898 - 16.11.1985) ஸ்ரீராமகிருஷ்ணபரமஹம்சரின் நேரடிச்சீடரான சுவாமி சிவானந்தரால் தீட்சை கொடுக்கப்பட்டவர்.  திருப்பராய்த்துறை ஸ்ரீ ராமகிருஷ்ண தபோவனம் மற்றும் பல்வேறு கல்வி ஸ்தாபனங்களை நிறுவியவர் சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர் அவர்கள். பொள்ளாச்சிக்கு அருகில் செங்குட்டை பாளையத்தில் பெரியண்ண கவுண்டர் நஞ்சம்மை தம்பதிக்கு ஏழாவது மகனாக பிறந்தவர் சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர்.இயற்ப்பெயர் சின்னு கவுண்டர்.

சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர் திருப்பராய்த்துறையில்  ‘ஸ்ரீ ராமகிருஷ்ண தபோவனத்தை’ நிறுவினார்.  உபநிஷதங்கள், பகவத்கீதை, திருவாசகம், தாயுமானவர் பாடல்கள் ஆகியவற்றுக்கு அற்புதமான விரிவுரைகளையும்,  அத்துடன் தமிழிலும் ஆங்கிலத்திலும் ஐம்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நூல்களையும்  சுவாமிகள் எழுதியுள்ளார்.  ஏராளமானோர் நல்வழியிலும் ஆன்மீக வாழ்விலும் மேம்பாடு அடைய  ‘அந்தர்யோகம்’ எனும் சிறப்பான பயிற்சியை அறிமுகம் செய்தார்.

1956ல் சேலத்தில் ‘ஸ்ரீ சாரதா சமிதி’ என்ற துறவு ஸ்தாபனத்தை உருவாக்கினார். இது, பின்னாளில் கரூர், மதுரை, திருநெல்வேலி உள்ளிட்ட பகுதிகளுக்கு விரிவுபடுத்தப்பட்டது. தற்போது, தமிழகத்தில், சித்பவானந்தரின் போதனைகளை பின்பற்றி, 60 பள்ளிகளும், ஏழு கல்லுாரிகளும் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றன. 

ஆன்மிகப் பணிகள், சொற்பொழிவுகள், கல்வி நிலையங்கள் அமைத்தல், சமூக சேவை இவற்றோடு தலைசிறந்த படைப்பாளியாகவும் மலர்ந்தார். ‘தர்ம சக்கரம்’ என்ற மாத இதழை 1951-ல் தொடங்கினார். இதிகாசங்கள், வேதாந்த நூல்கள், பகவத்கீதை, திருவாசகம் ஆகியவற்றுக்கான உரைகள், சிறுவர் கதைகள், நாடகம், தத்துவ விளக்கம், உரைநடை என 130-க் கும் அதிகமான நூல்களைப் படைத்துள்ளார்.

70 ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட சொற்பொழிவுகள் நிகழ்த்தியுள்ளார். சுவாமி ராமகிருஷ்ணர், விவேகானந்தரின் செய்திகளைத் தமிழகத்தில் பரப்பியதில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தவரும் ‘பராய்த்துறை மேவிய பரமபுருஷர்’ எனப் போற்றப்படுபவருமான சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தர் 87-வது வயதில் (1985) மகாசமாதி அடைந்தார்.
